Another Hot Dry Day

We are in a drought up here in Minnesota, but one plant I can almost always count on every year, regardless of whether it rains or not is the daylily. The daylilies look beautiful this year. They would look better if we had more rain, but the very fact that everything else is drying up makes me appreciate these flowers even more. What a variety of colors and a profusion of blooms, even though the blossoms last only a single day.

you can tell they are a little thirsty, too.

It's always hot and dry in the Summer time in Louisville. I don't think we're in a drought though.

mine are blooming, too, along the edge of our white fence. i seldom water them. after watering the roses, the tomatoes, all the containers, the windowbox on the garage, and the front garden, i'm sick of hauling the hose around and i leave the daylilies to their fate.

so far they're doing just fine.

but i owe them.

Pamela - Yes 0 but we are hopeful. The sky looks gray and pregnant with rain.

Corky - We are six inches down for the Summer. Not a good thing at all.

Laurie, I feel the same way - I have a really big yard and the hose is heavy cause it has to go a long way!

I love this picture---thank you!
It reminds me of a Rothko---and not just because I'm in a Rothko groove right now...
