Blanket Update
Okay, so here is what I decided to do with the corners: (Nobody but me liked the idea of using the pink - so I have bowed to your wiser judgement.) This isn't exactly a rose, but I think it will work.
Here is an update on the peonies in the front yard...
...and here is a cat update. She really wishes I would quit messing with her papers!

I think your design looks good; you could always do one in pink as a trial and compare the look!
Your peonies grow much taller than mine ;must be a different variety.
The expression on that face says it all! :)
Hey Purpleworms...
I love the peonies... and your cat's expression is PRICELESS!!
Thanks for checking out my site... and the photo you wondered about was taken near Newcastle in New South Wales. I spent about two weeks travelling around NSW and Queensland last year.
The colour on those blossoms is beautiful.
The cat. Hilarious! Classic dead pan look.
LOVE IT! The blanket is great!
Hey ChrisB,
Up here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota there are few plants that grow well - but peonies are one type that do grow. There are many different heights and colors, but the angle probably makes these looktaller than they are.
Jodi - I haven't made it to NSW yet - but spent 6 months in the West last year.
Debbie - Thanks for the visit. Yes I like those deeper peony colors too! I have a maroon thing going on the property - the front door is that color!
Reevesfarm - Thanks - your advice helped me decide!
First off, I am lefthanded, which renders me incapable of a multitude of things: knitting, crocheting, calligraphy, and gardening. Why? it's a long story complete with elves and a terrorist for a 3rd grade teacher, but suffice it to say I am envious of your skill.
NOW, thank you so much for the visit and compliments on my blog. I shall blogroll you as soon as I get time to catch my breath.
Dear, your facility with the visual is always on the mark...I appreciate that I can live vicariously through you and your many talents.
peonies... day lilys and the scrunchy faced cat. Life at it's best.
Plus the corners look grey(t)
