Tuesday's Painting

Well, I'm coming along on my own path. Here is the first draft of one image from an intended group of paintings I am hoping to do. My Instructor has asked me to use masonite instead of paper - so this meant that today I could not begin my project, so I simply practiced on a pre-prepared piece of gessoed paper and I will have to go out for materials in order to get to my project off the ground. I think today's piece turned out pretty well. I'm working on finding my own style and although one can see the influence of Alice Neel and Jawelensky, I think this feels more natural to me than the hyper-realistic things we have been doing thus far.

Since I have an 8AM class tomorrow I will forbear any more discussion for the time.

I'm very happy with this one. I hope the one on masonite turns out this well.

That's a first draft? As far as I'm concerned it's brilliant, can't wait to see more.

Min - Thanks - I'll take all the encouragement I can get and I have the same concerns - I wonder if I can do it again!

Beccy - Yes, I actually like this one - but since it was done on paper it is not very permanent and as I want it as part of a set - I will have to try and recreate it! I'm worried that I will be unable to do so!

wow I'm with beccy this is a lovely painting and its just the one you practised so the final will be as good if not better- maybe you can't blow your own trumpet but we can.
