Class and an Afternoon Hike

Breakfast at the camp. Tae on the right is one of our counselors/teachers.

These guys are a handful, but also a lot of fun!

In the morning I took a walk through an older part of town. This is a cemetery.

Random shots near the water.

Cats kill the habu (poisonous snakes), so they are good to have around.

These sand fleas or roaches scurry all over the walls. They are a bit scary!

The mountains are just so beautiful.

A shop near the end of my walk.

Some kind of Okinawan sweet.

This was at the market. Women were cleaning up a huge pile of bean sprouts for sale.

From class this is one of the pictures drawn by the students (practicing descriptions.)

A camera war erupted at lunch!

Then it was off to hike!

Here is an assortment of nature photos from our hike.

Here is one of the first things we saw on our hike!

I'm tired so I won't put a lot of words with the pictures, but I did want to put up some photos of our hike. The Youth camp is on a nature preserve, so there are some nice hiking trails.

Palm base.

These fungus were pretty cool!

Here are some of our guys looking noble (of course they were complaining about how tired they were before the picture was taken!)

One of the boys caught this little guy.

These slugs are larger than we usually see in the States. (3-4 inches long maybe).

Another lizard caught by another hiker!

Some random shots of the kids.

Being chased by demons!

After the hike I walked down the mountain to the hotel. There was a shrine path on the way.

This path led up to the ruins of a castle - but there was little to be seen.

This is where the castle once stood.

Another shop.

When I got to the hotel I was pretty tired!
