Shopping at Takashimaya

Our first Tuesday in Tokyo after the big Fuji climb, we needed some special items to try and get the computers up and running so we headed out to my favorite department store. It turned out they did not have what we were looking for, but it gave us a chance to take a break on the roof and view the city and the rides for the children.



Since we were in the neighborhood, we also decided to go to one of Tokyo's oldest temples, Sensou-ji and we viewed the big lanterns, walked around the complex.



Supposedly two fishermen pulled a miniature gold statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the sea and it is encased in some private place where no one gets to see it.



So, we walked around and looked at things, bathed ourselves in the purifying incense smoke and enjoyed the beautiful grounds.

We watched the sembe makers ply their trade in the little shopping area in front of the temple ...



...and later went on to Kappa Bashi Dori to look at kitchen ware and restaurant wares.



Then it was home to make dinner.
